009- Retreat Radio – Grieving

In this episode, Jay and Mike discuss and explore grief.  Grief is an inevitable part of life. Whether it is a sudden situation or something that is known and anticipated, it is nonetheless difficult.  Often times, we have regrets of things unsaid or undone — which further adds to our pain. Grief is not limited to the loss of a loved one. Changes in circumstances or situations can also trigger grief.  While grief is inevitable, we need not allow others — or ourselves — to suffer through it alone. God calls us to share our burdens — especially grief — with each other. Continue reading “009- Retreat Radio – Grieving”

007 – Retreat Radio – Living on Purpose

Episode Overview

There is one thing that study after study has determined that leads to happiness, joy, and even longer life.  That thing is purpose.  The reason we are happier and more content when we live on purpose is that that is how God designed us.  God has a purpose for all of us.  He has made and shaped us for that purpose.  And, when we find and say “yes” to that purpose, we experience a much more meaningful, joyful and peaceful life.  But, what is your purpose?  How do you know what it is?  And, once you know, what do you do differently? That’s what we discuss in this episode.

005 – Retreat Radio – Judgment (Casting Stones)

Show Notes and Community Sharing

Episode Overview

We often underestimate our faults but overestimate others’ faults. Before you pass judgment on others, pause and think before you say or do something you might regret later. Understand there is only one true judgment, and that comes when we exit this world. Try to be more humble, and accept some humility. None of us are perfect, we are all still trying to pass our daily test. It is a constant project and through prayer, we ask for our Lord’s help in choosing the right path to choose to help us become stronger better Christians.

Ponder and Share

We — and the Retreat Radio Community  — would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on this subject.   Please share your comments.  It helps all of us grow!

  1. What areas in your life have you been hard on yourself or others? Why do you think that is?
  2. Are there situations in your circle where some corrections are needed? Do you understand the difference between judgment and correction?
  3. Have you ever called somebody out from the perspective of love versus judgment?

Episode Readings

Matthew 7:1-5

“Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while the wooden beam is in your eye? You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.
